March 24 1940 – Happy Easter! This week is also the anniversary of Jack Benny’s breakthrough radio appearance on Ed Sullivan’s program. This episode features some talk about Fred Allen, last week’s Hunchback play, a play “written by Don Wilson” and a look at next week’s play Pinocchio.

March 31, 1940 – The Jello Program starring Jack Benny! Jack was also on Orson Wells’ program that week in a mostly dramatic play called “June Moon”. But most of the show is a spoof of Walt Disney’s Pinocchio which came out the previous month, February 1940. The Blue Fairy was played by a woman Jack almost married, Mary Kelly. Of course he ended up marrying Mary Livingston instead.
