February 16, 1936 & April 19, 1936 – The Jello Program starring Jack Benny. This old Time Radio episode is REALLY old, 80 years ago. Many of the recording from that year have been lost to history. Only about 10 minutes of the episode “Drug Store” has survived. The same is true for the episode “I’ve Got a Heavy Date” two month later.
The two episodes have been seamlessly edited together to create one full episode (although this is still a bit of skipping). It’s still a funny OTR episode.
February 17, 1946 – This episode of the Lucky Strike Program starring Jack Benny is titled “Rochester Lost at Sea…Briefly” and he really was. The story of Rochester is really an aside. Listen also for a clip from Fred Allen’s new movie. And by NEW I mean 1945. Old Time Radio ( OTR )
Seabiscuit was a popular race horse in the 1930’s and 1940’s. In this episode we feature the actual horse race from 1937, the day before this episode of the Jack Benny Show. Plus Jack’s excuses are up, will be play “the Bee” on his violin? What about Fred Allen?
February 24, 1946 – The Jack Benny Program from Palm Springs. The Hot Dog Man (who would later be called Mr.Kitzel) is featured as Jack and Mary roam the streets before showing up late for their own show. Phil Harris has got it coved. 🙂
